Freebie Friday: Native American Traditions 1


Happy Friday! Today’s Freebie Friday takes a look at the Native American tradition of counting coup, right from Spirit Lake: The Game.

After a battle, people of the tribe would gather together to recount their acts of bravery and to count coup. Coup was recorded by putting notches in a coup stick. Indians of the Pacific Northwest would tie an eagle feather to their coup stick for each coup counted. There were many honors for counting coup. Watch this video to learn more.
