My Literary Resolutions 1

2015 is going to be a great year, I can feel it. One post isn’t going to be enough to get in all of my resolutions for the new year.

Staff at the Ferguson Library tweeted the question,

“What are your literary resolutions?”

My literary resolution is to read a programming book every month.

These are the first two and the interesting thing about these are that I never re-read books, but these two were so worthwhile, I’m going to read them again.

• The jQuery cookbook – my favorite technical book that I read last year.
• The Definitive Guide to Javascript

My favorite game programming book that I read last year was Building HTML 5 games with impact js.  I am not going to read it again, even though I liked it. It’s a pretty short book. The same author, Jesse Freeman, wrote a few other short books and two of them are on 2D games, which are my next project, so on my list are:

• Weekend code project: Build a 2D platform
• Weekend code project: Unity’s new 2D workflow

We have two books (yes, on actual paper) in the house on programming games for the iPhone, so those are on my list also. I noticed a book on HTML 5 on Dennis’ Kindle that looked interesting, so that is on the list also.

That brings me up to July, but I’ve got 7 months to find the other five books.
