7 Generation Games and the Strong Mind Strong Body Foundation are launching a paid six-week micro-internship program this summer to provide an introduction to and experience in the tech industry with a focus on providing access to opportunities to under-represented youth and/or first-generation college students.
The “Level-Up” program will create a cohort of four interns who will work on site at 7 Generation Games office in Minneapolis to hands-on, real world experience at an independent video game studio.
Each intern will work 12-15 hours per week. This is a paid position at a rate of $12 per hour.
No previous experience is expected or required for this position.
Requirements for the position include:
- Reliable
- Hardworking
- Willing to learn new skills
- Willing to admit when you don’t know something/need help
- Able to work as a member of a team
- Open to constructive feedback
Interns’ primary responsibilities will include game testing and training on business/industry software, but they will also be introduced to various aspects of the video game production process, including game design, programming, narrative development, artwork, sound and more. Interns will receive mentorship and professional development, including assistance with resume writing, interview prep for future hiring, a professional reference and network building.
Participants who successfully complete the entire “Level-Up” micro-internship program be eligible to stay on in a part-time game tester role or for a full summer paid internship for in 2022.
